Paul mentioned that the RX4 was a poor seller. Also, the Cosmo coupe was a flop, and the rotary pickup was little more than an amusing novelty. Had the conventional 1977 GLC failed in the marketplace, that might have been the end of Mazda in the USA. As an aside, the RX4 wasn't improved by a gaudy-grilled facelift for 1976.
